Archival research involves an examination of records on file at the various state agency offices, including the State Historic Preservation Offices, Archives and History, Offices of State Archaeologist, and others. Historic data is
reviewed at a wide variety of repositories, such as libraries, museums, and local
historical societies. Sources reviewed include historic accounts, maps, census data, and deeds of title. This information allows us to put a project area into a temporal and cultural context.
